Attended Korobosea International Primary School between 1977 - 1979. There was no air conditioning - the rooms had large fans and open windows. I don't recall the heat being a problem. The school was called in, using a large hand-held brass bell, which the student montors were permitted to ring. The school tuck shop sold dried and salted fruit such as salty plums and salty ginger, and frozen milk. The Headmaster Mr Krilly(?) would give the strap each morning to the last three children who were late for school. At the athletics carnival we would compete in the "Beetlenut and Spoon" race. We had music lessons on the school recorders, which were stored mouthpiece down in a large bucket of antiseptic (detol?). It was a lot of fun - I especialy enjoyed the days we had swimming lessons, and when we watched movies shown using large movie projectors with film reels, that would often jam and melt the film during the movie.

Very Heavily chlorinated is true! I remember my eyes getting red after spending more than an hour in the pool. But it was a nice place to go to during the hot months of the year and play with my little toy boat - back in the 80s when I was a kid :)

Hey BMO I did work experience at the tower as well - but it was in 1996 Grade 10. I spent the two weeks there with another kid. My dad used to work in the Department of Civial Aviation office just behind the tower.
During my two weeks I got to see a Fokker land without flaps and an A320 from Cairns land without confirmation of the front landing wheel locking securely. Then the fire-brigade decided to spray the hot front wheel brakes with their high-pressure hoses once the plane came to a safe stop. I could hear the pilot screaming in the comm trying to tell the guys to stop spraying the brakes. hehehe
